This article has moved to a new home. For up-to-date documentation please continue reading at http://doc.ready-roll.com/display/RRSQLDOC/Getting+started

Please note: If you can't see the video below, try downloading the MP4 version.

A short screencast to help you get started developing and deploying databases with ReadyRoll SQL projects.

In the first half of the video we will:
  • Create a new ReadyRoll database project in Visual Studio
  • Design Tables and Views using the SQL Server Data Tools in Visual Studio
  • Make Table changes in SQL Management Studio and Import changes into your project
  • Revert unwanted changes, returning your database to a known "good" state
  • Deploy your database (Publish) to a remote SQL Server instance

If you're feeling adventurous, keep watching from 04:50 as we:
  • Refactor Table objects -- in this example we'll split a FullName column into First/Last Names
  • Publish without deployment: generating a SQLCMD script manifest for your DBA to review
  • Deploy a SQLCMD script manifest with SQL Management Studio
